Hege Espeland Lygre (HEL) comes from a small place on the west coast of Norway, an island called Bømlo. She moved to Bergen in 2007 because of studies, and still lives there with her son, Benjamin.

She graduated as an illustrator from Norges Kreative Høyskole (NKH) in the spring of 2009, and she now runs her own little company, HELdesign. She´s been drawing her whole life, and works in various mediums, both traditionally (pencils, colored pencils, pastels, acrylics, oils, watercolors etc) and digitally (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Corel Draw etc).

She´s a self taught crochet designer and offers various patterns, both for sale and for free. One of her patterns was published in «Eplas Jul». She also loves teaching her passion for crochet, which results in crochet classes, YouTube videos, and she also has a series of crochet books planned.

«One of my favourite places, lost in a drawing»

She is also the illustrator/designer of Englatroll, a Norwegian clothing line for children, founded by Janne Nerheim. They´ve currently launched two collections, and the third is in the production.

Besides all this she works in sales and design at a commercial/advertisement firm.

Hege always has 20 projects going on at once (try telling her to slow down), and she rarely leaves the house without her pencil, sketchbook and crochet hook in her purse.
